Cengio Alto – Piccole Dolomiti

“Cengio” in the Venetian dialect is the rock, and also my grandmother’s surname. Such a hard head could only come from a stone. This is a small glimpse of the long chain closing the valley where I grew up, the first mountains I learned to recognise. The highest ones are “Cornetto” on the right and “BĂ ffelan” on the left. This name comes from the Cimbrian language, perhaps it means “focaccia” or perhaps “land of wolves”. Maybe you eat or maybe you are eaten…
